About This Sojourner

At first, I wanted to title this blog ‘apaixonera’, which I intended to be a play on the Portuguese word ‘apaixonar’, meaning ‘to fall in love, be infatuated’. Another spin on the definition is ‘to be passionate’. I wanted this to be about the thoughts and adventures of a passionate youth as she casts fear aside. But isn’t that what a blog is these days anyway?

Sojourner is more fitting. I wailed for much of my life about not belonging anywhere. Because I belong to the road. The daily sojourner—the girl who travels to a new place every day. More than a place. A new promise. A new set of possibilities.

My name is StephAnn Feroza. I’m an undergraduate student, but I’m also a teacher, a dreamer, a singer-songwriter coming out of the closet, and a sister.

Welcome to my corner of the world.

  1. Hello there! I want to let you know that I’ve nominated your blog for the Liebster Blog Award. 🙂 It is an award given to bloggers from the blogging community as a way of recognizing and appreciating fellow writers and welcoming them to the blogosphere. Here is a link where you can view the post on my page: https://dgree092.wordpress.com/2014/08/01/liebster-blog-award-the-blogosphere-welcomes-you/

This link gives the details of the Liebster Award:

And here’s a link explaining how to showcase the award in the sidebar on your blog:

    • Hey Danyealah! I apologize for not responding to this sooner. First, I was confused, wondering if it was some kind of blog spam. And then it was just fear–“Someone actually wants to nominate ME for something???”.

Anyway, I’ve read the rules and I’m assuming it’s not too late. I accept, and I’ll be following through with the procedure shortly.

Muita obrigada, thank you so much, for thinking of this blog!

  2. I always look forward to your new post and now, i’m concerned You havent blogged since february… is all well? Busy these days? How can i reach you via email?

    • I’m touched that you noticed, Joshua! I’ve had too much to say these past few months and I think it’s quite difficult to navigate the line between blog post and journal entry. I will be posting soon, though 🙂

      • Well… I think i unserstand… at times, the things we have to say needs to be incubated in our journals for a whiiiiiiiiiile before we let them out to the world. I’m looking forward to the next post. By the way, how is the worship on campus going? Do you still hold it?

      • You are a very wise man. I needed to hear that!

WorshipOnCampus has been going beautifully. We’ve been going at it every Wednesday since January and next week is the last round for the semester. It’s beautiful the smiles we’ve continuously put on people’s faces, and the closeness its fostered for my friends who do it with me every week. I think passersby have definitely grown used to us, which makes me happy. Hopefully, it’ll continue after I’ve graduated. But I’m just happy that we’ve pulled it off this long 🙂

      • That is very good. Event though I can’t participate(obviously!), I know the meetings have achieved what its meant to achieve at this time. As you think of a sourjourner, I think of life as a journey through uncharted terrain. Plus we have a guide-God- who leads us in this adventure one step at a time. Keep following.
